Implicit social cognition is what psychologists describe as cognitive processes that take place outside of our consciousness or control, including all associated persistent attitudes, stereotypes, and biases. This glossary is not exhaustive. Because of the way language works, especially around these concepts, it`s important to note that many of these terms evolve. A list of potentially relevant policies and procedures related to incidents of bias in WashU. In recent years, we have seen more evidence of adjectival bias in constructs like “a biased information program” instead of the more common “biased information program.” The reason probably lies in acoustic confusion: the -ed of bias can be filtered out by listeners, meaning that prejudices and biases can seem similar in the context of normal speech. However, they are not interchangeable. The adjective, which means “made or characterized by an unfounded judgment,” is biased (“biased reporting”). There is an adjective distortion, but it means “diagonal” and is only used for fabrics (“a bias cut through the fabric”). The majority believe that the Church has a capitalist bias. Perhaps the following consideration will at least make both “bias” and “first-degree cousinship” understandable. Inclination, prejudice, elimination, predisposition mean influencing someone, having or adopting an attitude towards something.
Inclination implies a tendency to favor one of two or more actions or conclusions. I tend to agree with the bias that suggests a firm and predictable tilt in one direction and implies an unfair bias. Their nature leads them to trust others Predisposition implies the effect of a disposing influence long before the opportunity to manifest themselves.
